Brief Introduction to ASSIST

ASSIST is a non-profit, charitable organization governed by a Board of Directors who represents the community and this Board brings with them a variety of professional and voluntary experiences and talents. Our board and staff believe in empowering immigrants by providing essential services to assist them in integreting into a new country.

Our programs include Integrated Services Program, Adult English Courses, Children, Youth, Family and Senior Services. One-on-One counselling, workshops and group activities are provided to improve the well-being of people who live in our community. The Centre also recruits a large number of volunteers to provide the community with the necessary support so all can work together to build a harmonious and healthy community. 


What's New
Volunteer Tax Clinic

From March 22 to April 1 ( excluding Sunday), we will offer free service to assist low income seniors, individuals or families to file their 2009 income tax returns.

Employment Readiness Workshops

There will be series of Employment Readiness Workshop: "Writing Effective Resumes and Cover Letters" on March 21; "Improving Job Interview Skills" on April 24;  "How to Register with APEGGA" on May 14; and "Canadian Workplace Culture" on May 15.  If you are interested in these workshops, please phone us to register and reserve a spot. 

 

Raising Children Through Songs, Stories and Books

Through songs, stories, books, crafts and games, the program aims at promoting and enhancing family literacy skills of parents /grandparents and children as well as strengthening relationships and communication between parents/grandparents and their children/grandchildren. Families with children aged 0 -5 are welcome
