Multicultural Breast Health (MBH) promotes breast health through education activities and support to immigrant women in Edmonton, from different cultural communities, in their first language。
Multicultural Breast Health (MBH) Edmonton is a project of Assist Community Services with funding from Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We serve six communities in Edmonton: Chinese, South Asian, Arabic, Somali, Hispanic and Filipino.
Breast cancer is one of the most serious health concerns of women:
§ 1 in 9 women is expected to develop breast cancer in her lifetime
§ 1 in 27 will die of breast cancer
§ When breast cancer is found in an early stage, the outcome of treatment is much more hopeful
§ Learning about risk factors and knowing how to reduce these is important for all women
We offer the following free services:
§ Breast health education workshops & information sessions
§ Displays
§ Referral & appointments for mammogram screening
§ Information and support in your first language
§ Support groups for breast cancer patients and survivors
