T.A.N.G. YOUTH PROGRAMS

T.A.N.G Youth Program

Towards A New Generation (T.A.N.G.) is a preventive Family Services Program at ASSIST Community Services Centre that is open to immigrant or Canadian-born youth aged 11 to 15
Youth growing up in precarious circumstances are susceptible to negative influences and more liable to engage in behaviours that can harm themselves and others. This program provides the guidance, role modelling, and mentorship that is fundamental in facilitating a new generation of youth to grow up as healthy and caring and responsible individuals.

Objectives of T.A.N.G.
Through the use of interactive and youth-focused activities, the goal of the program is to foster:
Personal growth
Positive identity and values
Knowledge and understanding of cultural heritage
A sense of community
An awareness of resources

Drop in Youth Support Group
On Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the school year, we offer a place for youths to drop in and catch up on homework, a place to hang out and feel safe with friends, and a place to talk about issues they may face in school and in life.
Different topics on potential issues youths may face will be discussed each week and we do a variety of ongoing volunteer opportunities within the community.
PGD(Personal Growth Development) & Homework Tutorial Class
We offer a different lesson each week that supplements your school subjects, and also homework time where you can ask one of our many volunteer tutors for help with your school homework.
