Kevin Dons: President
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a B.Sc in Mining Engineering. He holds a professional engineering license in Alberta and has a background in tactical and strategic project planning. Kevin is currently in the insurance industry and an active volunteer in many community-hosted events.
Games Choy: Vice President
Games Choy has been working in the computer trade. He is a longtime community volunteer and serves on other non-profit community organizations for e.g. CGAA, Multi-Level Care Foundation. He is also very well connected in the Chinese community.
John Yee: Treasurer
John Yee has been a part of the insurance industry for over 30 years He also sits on the ECCLC/CAC board. He is the past president of the ECBEA and president of Asian Heritage Month.
Nancy Tran: Secretary
Nancy Tran is a civil litigation lawyer at a regional law firm. In addition to volunteering for the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and other local community organizations, she has volunteered for non-profit organizations focused on international development, including developing policies and reviewing projects partnered with communities in Latin America and facilitating public health initiatives, and developing related training programs for volunteers in rural Tanzania.
William Lau: Director
William Lau recently completed his undergraduate studies with a focus on Human Nutrition at the University of Alberta. After graduation, William worked in program management in the University's International Relations for a year, and since then has been working with his brother Charles to promote Canadian environmental technologies internationally. Outside work, he spends most of his time giving back to the Edmonton Chinese Community through advocacy initiatives with the Chinese Benevolent Association in his role as Vice President on the Edmonton Chinese Young Leaders' Council.
Peter Wong: Director
Peter Wong is an associate with a thriving architectural firm. He is a former president of the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association where he served on the board for over 12 years. He is an active community member serving on different boards and the task forces with the City.
Wing Choy: Director
Wing Choy is a Professional Engineer and has been serving with other community organizations such as ECGs, ECES He is well connected in the Chinese community.
Samuel Tam: Director
Samuel Tam, MSW, RSW, RCSW is a License Clinical Social Work Supervisor and Clinical Social Worker in Alberta Canada. He has a wealth of experience, from clinical skills that include individual, family, group therapy, and mental health leadership. He has a lot of experience in being part of the development of community mental health services. He has a tremendous passion for training mental health workers. He conducts various kinds of workshops both in Canada and in China. He is a certified trainer for Mental Health First Aid (Senior)- Mental Commission of Canada. Samuel is also a Board of Directors at Canadian Accreditation Council.
Gloria Gao: Director
Gloria brings over 15 years' management experience with an extensive background in strategic planning, business operations, financial and human resource management, and stakeholder engagement. She has intensive interactions with various stakeholder groups in both the public and private sectors. Besides her professional career, Gloria has been an active volunteer in her community. She believes in teamwork and is passionate about fostering an environment of inclusion, diversity, and equality.
Angie Loo: Director
Angie Loo is an active volunteer and advocate for the Chinese community. She was the past President of the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association (ECBEA) and the Edmonton Chinese Lions Club. She has been volunteering in both of these associations for the past 13 years. She established The Alpha Leo Club designated for youth between 12 and 18 years of age. Angie has worked for BMO for 30 years in different positions from management roles to Mortgage Specialists for the last 11 years. Also, she has a Certified Financial Planner designation. Angie has three wonderful children and enjoys cooking special meals and traveling. She also speaks Cantonese and Spanish.
Allan Mah: Director
Allan currently is WCB Appeals Commissioner. He was the University of Alberta- Director of Real Estate, lecturer at the University of Alberta, Edmonton and Red Deer Real Estate Boards, Building Owners & Managers Association, Real Estate Institute of Chicago, Alberta Real Association Real Estate Agents and Brokers Licensing, and the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association. Allan is involved in many community services, including the APEGA Board, CLSA, University Hospital Foundation, Nait Board of Governors, Servus Credit Union Ltd, Chinatown Multilevel Care Foundation, Hong Lok Care Centre Management Board. Allan has extensive experience as a facilitator and consultant to many non-profit organizations in strategic and succession planning and board governance.
Al Cheung : Director
Al Cheung graduated with a B. Sc. and an M. Sc. in Chemistry from Alberta and an MBA from Saskatchewan. He subsequently obtained the CA designation (now CPA). He held the positions of Controller of Great West Steel, VP Finance for Peace Hills Insurance, CFO for Poly-pacific, and worked as a Financial Consultant. He is now semi-retired.
