Settlement Program

ASSIST’s Settlement Program is a government-funded service designed to help immigrants and refugees successfully adapt, integrate, and thrive in Canada. Our experienced settlement counsellors provide personalized support, practical information, and community connections to help newcomers navigate everyday life with confidence.

Eligibility

Services are available to:
  • For economic class immigrants, as of April 1, 2027 onwards, the length of eligibility will be limited to 5 years after obtaining permanent resident status (1,824 days).
  • The above length of eligibility will not apply to family class immigrants, Government-Assisted Refugees and other eligible clients under the Settlement program.

Information and Orientation Services

Newcomers can meet one-on-one with a settlement counsellor to receive personalized guidance based on their settlement and integration needs. Counsellors provide practical information, referrals, and step-by-step support to help clients access services and understand Canadian systems.

educational and interactive group sessions designed to help newcomers build the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to successfully settle and integrate into life in Canada. Workshops are delivered in a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment, helping participants better understand Canadian systems while building meaningful connections within their new communities.

Community Connection Activities

ASSIST offer group activities that bring together newcomers to their local community, access resources and get engaged. This involves visiting important places, learning about ways of life, and participating in activities that include community members.
