The Digital Literacy Integration for ESL Financial Success Journey is an innovative program developed by ASSIST Community Services Centre to help newcomer adults build the English language, digital, and financial skills needed to confidently navigate everyday life in Canada.
Through an integrated, hands-on approach, participants strengthen their ability to manage personal finances, use online banking and digital services, understand Canadian financial systems, protect themselves from fraud, and make informed financial decisions while improving their English communication skills. The program empowers learners to become more confident, financially independent, and better prepared for successful settlement and long-term integration into Canadian society.
By the end of the program, participants will have developed the knowledge and confidence to manage their finances, use digital technology safely and effectively, and communicate about financial matters in English.
Learners will strengthen their ability to budget, bank, save, borrow responsibly, understand taxes, government benefits, retirement planning, and protect themselves from financial fraud. They will also build practical digital skills, including using computers, online banking, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and government online services. Throughout the program, participants will improve their English language skills by reading financial documents, completing forms, writing emails, asking questions, and confidently communicating with financial institutions and service providers.

ASSIST Community Services Centre is pleased to offer CELPIP–Horizon, a flexible, computer-based English assessment designed to help learners better understand their current language abilities and prepare for their next steps in education, employment, or English language training.
CELPIP–Horizon evaluates practical, real-world communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The assessment takes approximately 55 minutes to complete and provides a detailed report showing the learner’s performance in each language skill. Results are generally available within 48 hours and are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, known as CEFR.
The assessment provides a clear picture of a learner’s current English abilities. This information can help programs place learners in an appropriate class, identify areas where additional support may be needed, and develop more targeted learning plans.
ASSIST CELPIP–Horizon can be used as a realistic practice assessment for individuals preparing to take the CELPIP–General test. It introduces learners to similar question formats and task types, helps them understand what to expect, and identifies the skills they may need to strengthen before taking the official test.
ASSIST CELPIP–Horizon is delivered through Prometric’s secure online assessment platform. Depending on the service arrangement, the assessment may be completed remotely from a quiet and appropriate location or delivered through an approved testing location. Secure identity verification, system controls, and online proctoring help protect the integrity of the assessment.
With one efficient assessment, learners receive meaningful information about their English skills, areas for improvement, and readiness for future language-learning, testing, education, and employment goals.
